Rationale

In this creative writing, I will write about the novel: "The kite Runner". The author of the book is Khaled Hosseini, a very good novelist, the story is about a pashtung boy who has a Hazara servant but they are very good friends. One day the life of these two boys changes forever.

This creative writing, will connect to the novel because, I will use the same characters of the novel and the same context this book is written. I will write a diary entry about Amir feelings and opinion in a special moment of the book.

My objective with this is comment to all kids and teens, that the opinion of other people about your friends it can affect your relationship, my recommendation is to believe always in them, if he always defends and help you, don't let it go.

I´m going to do a diary entry, because it is the best way to give a personal experience and feelings in the moment it is happening. I will use a semi-formal language because in this text you write to yourself, so will be more confident. I want to do it simple as possible, with nothing special in it, only I want to say to the boys to believe always in your friends.

Winter 1975

Diary:

Well, tomorrow is the day, the kite running competition, it is the day when Baba will finally put his eyes on me and I need to do it well. In the last 3 years all the attention went to Hassan. A few weeks later I've heard Baba with Rahim Khan when they were having a conversation, my own father thinks I am a coward, he thinks I can´t do anything by myself, but tomorrow everything will be different.

Days ago, it was Hassan birthday, he was very happy all day, in the morning I gave him a new slingshot and he was very grateful with me, I decided to give him this present because one day, after watching a movie of John Wayne, we were walking and the stupid of Aseef with his friends, went to bother us, I was really nervous in that moment, he started to say that me and Hassan were not friends because he is a hazara and I am a pashtung, and quickly Hassan took his old slingshot trying to protect me, and that resulted because Aseef and his friends, left the place. Well, to continue, on Hassan's birthday, I was reading to him a story in the pomegranate tree and Baba came in his car to take us to find a present for Hassan. I wanted to sit in front on the car, but, Baba preferred Hassan to sit on front because it was his birthday. On the way to the store Hassan was very happy, he took out his face through the window and the wind hit his face. In the store Hassan had the opportunity to choose any kite. In that moment I started to feel jealous of Hassan, also because in another birthday Baba gave him an operation of his lips, Baba always is better with him, he always is happy with him, so what kind of friend wants to take my father off me?

The words of Aseef probably are true, Hassan is only a hazara that is good with me, only to have good things. Probably he wants to destroy my life, and he covered trying to help and protect me, he is only playing with me. A demonstration of this could be that day when I received Rahim Khan´s letter with his opinion of my little story, Rahim says it was a good story and I told Hassan, Rahim Khan´s opinion. After this, Hassan wanted to hear my story, after telling him, he searched for something bad to criticize my job. Hassan did very well, he destroyed my job, he always wants to make my life worse. I think Hassan wants to steal my Baba.

But he is the only boy  who I play with, because I grew with him, I have lived with Hassan all my life, more than 10 years, we had a lot of good moments together, we are like brothers. So, how can I know if he really is a true friend or not? A true friend always wants to make you happy, a true friend is always loyal, he protected me of Aseef, but a friend doesn't try to steal your father.

I'm really confused right now, I hope tomorrow, I will know the answer.

If I want to be a novelist, first I have to write about myself, Well, tomorrow is the day, the kite running competition, it is the day when Baba will finally put his eyes on me and I need to do it well. Dialogue

Eager: It is fare and appropriate for parents to select the gender of their child, especially in cases when family balanced has an important role, for example families with lot children the same gender, which is not only unhealthy for the parents, but a poor example for the children about what the world is actually about.  

Reluctant: it is inappropriate to have in vitro fertilization for sex selection, because it is unnatural process to make a child, it is like to buy something, when it’s more important. It feels wrong if somebody wants to have a child and know the sex, perfectly you can go to an orphanage where abandonate kids don’t have parents.   

Eager: And why is it unnatural when I decided the gender of my child? When me, you and everybody else eats and drinks genet: call modified food?  Why is it inappropriate when even you also do it? What if I want a child with my own blood?

Reluctant: Is unnatural because you build a life, in the ethics way is not correct to manipulate a life, it´s true most of the food we eat is modified, but this food, it is good for our healthy? Some of this kind of food it is very dangerous for our body, produce cancer and other kinds of illness. If you want a child of your own blood; you can have sex-relation with your partner and have one child.  

Eager: Well if you see it like this you have the reason

Reluctant: It was a very good debate, goodbye.

Differences between

Its true, between this countries there are a lot of differences first of all, my country Chile was part of the Spainish imperium, so I speak Spanish and  New Zealand was part of the British imperium so they speak english. It Also means that we have different religion in my country most of the people who live there are catholic, meanwhile in New Zealand there are more Anglicans. 

In Chile we drive in the right part of the street so the drivers are in the left side in the car, meanwhile in New Zealand they  drive in the left side of the street so they sit in the opposite side of the car.

In Chile the popular sport is football, but in the New Zealand islands the rugby and cricket are  the most common sports in the country.

Also we have a little of similitude's with this country, in the islands are Indians called Maori, this culture still exist in the society and some people came from this culture, they are highly respected by this reason. In the other side, Chile are the mapuches also indians they fought agains the Spain army, this culture still exist in the country but they dont have the respect they deserve. So, the two countries thay have indigenous heritage.    

To be a NewZealander means a lot of things and responsibilities:
It Means that you always are a sacrificed person  you need to beat all the things that are against you, for example if you need to wake up at five o'clock, and beat the cold morning that waits for you, all the days of the week to maintain your family, you must do it including the weekends.
If you are a new zealander you always need to be punctual in all moments because all the public services like the bus or the subway have different hours to leave the station, and it is your responsibility to be there on time, because if you are 1 minute late, the train or the bus will not be there, and you need to wait  a long time for the next one to come.
You need to be clever with all the people, including people you know.
You must take care of your city, no illegal graffiti, no throwing the trash on the floor, you never steal in any opportunity.
To be solidary, if you see a old men or women in the train, you must give your sit to the older person.
Also to be happy and enjoy all the things this country gives to you: museums, parks, sports events, games, etc.

Hi Felix, how are you?

Well, the last day I was walking home after school, It was six o´clock, so I was hungry because I did not eat breakfast that day.

Walking in the street I entered into a store to buy a chocolate, but it was a little more expensive than usual and had a logo of "Fair Trade". So I bought the chocolate and it was delicious, one of the best chocolates I have ever tasted in my life. I became curious, so I asked to the seller from where that chocolates bar came and what meant "Fair trade". He taught me that the chocolate came from Africa and "Fairtrade" is an organization. He told me, that I have to search in the internet for more Information because he did not know more.

So when I entered to my home, I picked up my notebook and started to search in google for some information. Well, "Fair Trade" is an organization to help people, but what kind of people? This organization wants to help the farmers, how? It is very simple really all you need to is go to any supermarket of your city and search for any product with the Fair-trade logo, it is very easy to find one, the logo is a stick man holding his hand up in signal of victory, and in the left is like a green leaf that represents the nature and on the other side it is a blue "sky". Well, one time you have got the product that you want to buy, you could see that it is ten percent more money than usual, but that percentage goes directly to the workers who make your product possible and it is high quality.

"Times change, we need to change as well", words of Francois Pienaar, who read the poem wrote by William Ernest Henley, title "Invictus". The poem that change the springboks capitan mind. This movie was released in the cinemas in 2009 and it is starred by Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela, and Matt Damon playing the role of the rugby player Francois Pienaar, both of them made a very good job playing they their respective and very important characters. Directed by Clint Eastwood an american actor, film director, producer and composer.

The movie was inspired in a real fact in 1995 when Nelson Mandela was the president of South Africa, at that times "Madiba" was a polemic president in the country because he was the first black president of this nation. Also the racism in South Africa maintained the country separate in two parts. So Mandela used the rugby to bond the country, to fight the world cup with the help of all the people of south African, blacks and whites. So the team of springboks will try to be champions of the 1995 rugby world cup. With this idea Mandela hopes to unite the country, 42 million people, blacks and whites together to support a common goal.

The movie starts with two different visions, in one part there are some blacks playing football and in the other side, white playing rugby, In this part you can see apartheid. Nelson Mandela has been recently out from prison, and he becomes the president of South Africa and he started to involve and cherish in the rugby world, so he met the rugby player Francois Pienaar who is the capitant of the springboks. Francois suffered with his comrades by the lost games. Mandela gives inspiration to the rugby player, who felt bleak and sad, once the meeting is over, the capitant changes his mind and start to be optimistic for the rugby world cup.

I recommend this movie to all lovers of rugby and history, like me. I put it 4 stars because has all I like in a movie. a good history, a problem to solve in a team, also the principal actors make very well their respective role. I loved Nelson Mandela personality, and Morgan Freeman makes you feel as if he really was acting the ex-president. You can live and feel what happened in the country at that time.        

Letter to a Friend

Hey John, how are you ?

Well, the last saturday I played the rugby tournament in London with my team "Liverpool Dogs", the fifteen a side tournament, where come 32 teams from all England to compete to be the best rugby club in the country.

 We won all the games but in the semi-final we were losing by 4 points and in the last move in the game I caught the ball and I threw myself to the in-goal zone at the same time I got tackled, luckily I made the try, so we acceded to the final but also I became injured cause the wound in my leg, I broke my tibia, so I can't play the big final. We lost the match by one point, they told me that the match was very good because meanwhile my friends played the final I was in the hospital. 

Now I need to use a cast to immobilise my leg, the treatment is to be used 5 months and 7 without sports and after that I need to go to the doctor to start walking again . 

So I will be here waiting for my recovery, I expect to see you soon.

Opinion Essay

Responsible of Pollution 

In this essay I will be discussing the issue of who has more responsibility for pollution; The business or the government? This topic is relevant for people who have interest in the contamination of the world in this moment, I'm with people who said that the business and factories are more responsible that the government in world contamination. 

As you know, the pollution of the earth is very important these days, some people's  think about the really responsible of contamination, if you think like me you really know that the factories and businesses are the real responsibles of the problem. Nowadays are many countries industrialized, like China, Japan, Brazil, India and especial in the United states, the greatest source of pollution is the Industrial community of this country. According to the 2000 toxics Release Industry of the United States Environmental Protection Agency: "Over 2.95 million metric tons of toxic chemicals from about 2.000 industrial facilities are annually released into the environment".

Personally I think that this is a very important point because if we continue raising these toxics, it is very probably that in the next years we will have more problems that now about this. Also in the past with the Industrial Revolution, pollution became a major problem with the introduction or the steam engine (And a series of goods shifting) from home and small to large industrial factories. Another reason to believe me is because according to Web site "Pollution Issues": "The contamination increased because of the use of artificially sources of power that replaced the natural power of fast-running rivers".

What is more, now there is are a considerable number of corporations starting to account for coming carbon limits in business. There is definitely a change because according to a news report by the CDP: "These companies recognize the era of unlimited pollution will end soon, and it's time to rain in their share of global warming emissions". Well, at least they will stop raising contamination emissions, but at this time, is not it a little late? The factories should have stopped this before, at least ten years ago so now we wouldn't pay the consequences, but is so late. Another thing is that according to web site The Energy Collective: "Right now companies are free to release as much carbon as they want. If you know the carbon gas makes the climate changes and contribute to the deadly storms, costly droughts and destructive floods like the ones that have swept through our communities." To my mind, we need to help our communities by limiting how much carbon pollution the companies release.

However, some people think that the government is the principal responsible, they think that managing the air quality is a partnership between the multiple government jurisdictions and stakeholders. The BC Air Quality separate in the federal, provincial, regional and municipal governments, said: " The government is the responsible for making and enforcing laws, issuing permits and codes of practice and setting standards, objectives guidelines and criteria. So, why anywhere the factories also contribute to the pollution, if the government is watching it?

In conclusion, I really think that, if we really want to "clean" the air from pollution, take care of our planet, and stop the contamination, we need to stop the emission of carbon gas or also, stop the most contamination factories. Also the government can help us, but seriously and take control of industries. So now we can be sure that the industries are changing in their pollution politics.

Throughout the world there are various types of pollution that interfere with the quality of life for all living creatures and with the natural functioning of the earth's ecological systems. Although some environmental pollution is a result of natural causes (such as methane emissions from cattle and toxic materials expelled from volcanoes), most pollution is caused by human activities.

Human Industrial Activities

In the United States, as is the case in most industrialized nations, the greatest source of pollution is the industrial community. According to the 2000 Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), over 2.95 million metric tons (6.5 billion pounds) of toxic chemicals from about 2,000 industrial facilities are annually released into the environment, including nearly 45,360 metric tons (100 million pounds) of recognized carcinogens.

Industrial Revolution

During the Industrial Revolution of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, pollution became a major problem with the introduction of the steam engine and a series of technological advances that led to the production of goods shifting from homes and small factories to large industrial factories. The invention of more productive processes to manufacture cotton textiles contributed greatly to the number of mills located in England, and later in the northeastern United States. The steam engine allowed capitalists to transfer their manufacturing plants away from naturally flowing waters (outside the city) to areas inside and around cities where more abundant labor was available. Pollution increased because of the more concentrated conditions within the industrializing cities and because of the use of artificially produced power (such as coal) that replaced the natural power of fast-running rivers.

Evidence of pollution during the early Industrial Revolution in England and the European continent is widespread. South Wales, located in southwestern England, was described by Adam Markham in A Brief History of Pollution (1994) as a "veritable witches cauldron of industrial pollution." Samples of hair from historical figures such as Isaac Newton and Napoleon Bonaparte show the presence of antimony and mercury at toxic levels not normally found in human hair.

Twenty-nine corporations, including five major oil companies, are starting to account for coming carbon limits in their business plans, according to a new report by CDP. These companies recognize the era of unlimited pollution will soon end, and it’s time to rein in their share of global warming emissions.

Right now, companies are free to release as much carbon as they want. This fuels climate change and contributes to the deadly storms, costly droughts, and destructive floods like the ones that have swept through our communities.

We all pay a steep price for unchecked climate change—even if our families haven’t lost a home to a storm surge yet or gone out of business after a prolonged drought. It touches us no matter where we live. The government spent nearly $100 billion to respond to extreme weather events in 2012. That’s more than $1,100 per average US taxpayer.

We can help protect our communities by limiting how much carbon pollution companies release. America has already set limits for arsenic, lead, and mercury, and other pollutants that endanger our health and well-being. Now we must do the same for carbon.

According to the new CDP report, more and more companies know that time has come, and many have already demonstrated what’s possible by reducing their own carbon pollution. Microsoft, for instance, has committed to becoming carbon neutral across all its data centers, labs, offices, and travel. Even fossil fuel giants like ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, BP, and Shell told CDP researchers they are planning for a carbon-constrained world, because the nation will soon take firm climate action.

President Obama has already begun. In June he released a robust Climate Action Plan and directed the Environmental Protection Agency to establish carbon limits for new and existing power plants. His plan will also target other potent global warming pollutants, including methane from oil and gas production and HFCs. And last year, the president raised fuel economy standards to 54.5 miles per gallon, which will cut carbon pollution from new cars in half and save consumers $1.7 trillion at the pump by 2025.

The clean car standards have unleashed a wave of innovation in the auto sector, contributed to Detroit’s recovery, and helped spur the boom in car sales. The power plants standards will likewise inspire advances in clean energy technologies. They will also level the playing field and allow all sources of energy to compete for low-carbon markets.

The CDP report confirms that many of our smartest and biggest companies are already planning for the low-carbon future. We can usher that future in today by setting strong limits on carbon.  We can hold polluters accountable and leave our children with cleaner air and a more stable climate.

Levels of Government Involved

Managing air quality is a partnership between multiple government jurisdictions and stakeholders. This is partly due to the fact that different players have different degrees and kinds of air-quality management powers and roles. Also, air pollution often stretches across more than one political boundary, and has more than one source. Addressing air pollution requires a joint effort by those affected by the pollution and those involved in causing it.

The main governments involved in air quality management are the federal, provincial, regional and municipal governments, along with international joint organizations. They are responsible for making and enforcing laws, issuing permits and codes of practice, and setting standards, objectives, guidelines and criteria. In addition, they work with other government agencies and stakeholders to in airshed management. (See Airshed Management in B.C.).

Federal Legislation

The federal government’s role in addressing air quality issues is largely defined through the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA). Many emission sources that lie beyond provincial authority are subject to federal regulation, standards and guidelines. These include motor vehicles and fuels, marine vessels, railways and off-road engines. The federal government also provides research support and advice to provincial and municipal agencies in the development of strategies and plans.

Provincial Legislation

In general, the provinces are responsible for controlling pollution from industry and business activities. B.C.'sEnvironmental Management Act and the Waste Discharge Regulation are the principal pieces of legislation for air quality and other environmental issues in British Columbia. Flowing from them are regulations that address specific air-quality issues. The province has the authority to develop air quality standards and guidelines, regulate point and area sources, and require the preparation of airshed management plans  For more information, see the Legislative Framework, Summary of Air Quality Legislation and Air Quality Regulations.

British Columbia is also a member of the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME), composed of Canada's federal, provincial and territorial environment ministers. The CCME has developed Canada-wide standards for particulate matter and ground-level ozone, which are an important step towards the long-term goal of minimizing the risk PM and ozone pose to human health and the environment.

Regional and Municipal Legislation

Regional and municipal governments can pass bylaws to control emissions such as backyard burning, wood stoves and vehicle idling. These governments can also address air pollution through land-use and transportation planning, regional growth strategies and sustainability plans. Under the Environmental Management Act, the Metro Vancouver (the Greater Vancouver Regional District) has been delegated authority to manage air quality within its boundaries — an important responsibility in B.C., given the size of its population. It administers laws that regulate emissions from industrial, commercial and industrial sources, through permits, compliance promotion and enforcement. A key role is establishing ambient air quality criteria that may be different but no less stringent (or more stringent) than requirements established by the province.

International Actions and Agreements

International actions and agreements include the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, theKyoto Protocol and the Canada-United States Air Quality Agreement. Closer to home is the Georgia Basin/Puget Sound International Airshed Strategy, a multi-agency, international effort to address shared air quality management concerns.

Hi and welcome to the national section, my name is Sebastián Covarrubias and today I will talk about the case of the educational reform in Chile.

The educational reform of the president Michele Bachelet is happening in Chile, she promised free education for many students and she said that today they were complying with one of the promises of the goverment. This reform has been a key demand from university students who have organized massive protests to pressure the goverment.

The goverment plans to create a new office of superintendents for higher education as well as two new universities. The president's office said that by the second half of this year the executive branch will send tothe congress a bill to make secondary education free.

The reform has been critized by the private sector and opposition politicans over its potential impact on investments at a time when Chile's economic growth has started to slow down. The tax reform was approved by the lower house of Congress last week and will now be sent to the senate for debate and approval.

The opinion of the people about the education is so relevant, the president said that the education is for every one in the country but some people are waiting the change, Melisa Sepulveda (a student leader of University of Chile) says that the current systemof education is for the rich and another is for the poor and Lorenza Soto (from ACES) thinks that the government has not given any concrete answers and it is not going to attack the principal problem of the Education in this country.

It was my second day in this mystery  house, I met the guests one day before, we went to the poker room, after playing some games. I went to my bed and I felt somebody behind me. When I turned around, there was nothing, only a window open. Then, a cold wind envolved me and I entered to my room. yesterday morning started to rain and I felt something not good. When I was in 3rd grade I had instruments in hours of class but in 5th to 8th grade we don't have instruments class! This year we have only 40 minutes of instruments in a week! I lost 3 or 4 years of instruments. I was learning alone, please bring aging the instruments class! The other thing is we need to stay in school after classes to learn, but some students like me, also want to stay at school to practice sports like: soccer, basketball, running, rugby, etc. Why not the school suspend on hour of spanish or maths (we have 8 hours each one in a week) so we have aging an instrument class?

Dear Mr Castro:

I am writing to express my concern about the idea to kill all the stray dogs from Valparaiso. I know that this is your idea and it is to be at the ending of the next year.

I am very worried about that because I'm a dog lover and is my duty to protect them, I know that are too much stray dog in the streets of Valparaiso but is necessary to kill it?

It is necessary to recognise that the dogs have some rights like ours (the human) they have the right to live and die by nature, that mean, by the old of the dog. The fact is if you kill the dog you kill lives and that is illegal in religions and judicial.

If you go effect this project, will lead to collapse of all Valparaiso streets, because all the dogs lover of the region will go out to protest and the most of this finish in a wrong way with a lot of damage in the city, and you will be fired of your charge of mayor of the city of Valparaiso.

It is for these reasons that I think you need to take another decision and delete this project, so the dogs can live in peace and you can stay in your charge.

This Saturday 17th of May all the dog lovers master dog will stand up, make a black card, take a bus to Valparaiso and protest for the dogs' rights! I'll meet you all at 527 Caleta Portales.

Valparaiso's Municipality once to perform a massive stray dogs kill. We can't accept it, its a violation against dogs rights.

Bring all the dog food you can bring and some money to buy vaccines and remedies to heal injuries.
